PARTNERSHIP AND ADVOCACY
IRCU endeavors to solicit for support and mobilize resources as well as influence policy and share best practices. IRCU promotes partnership and networking with other faith based organizations and stakeholders to deliver critical services in HIV/AIDS, Peace, Human Rights and Governance.

Civil Society Inter Constituency Committee (CICC)
Through Partnership and Advocacy IRCU mobilized partners within the Civil Society under an Umbrella Coalition of CICC to influence Government establish dual track financing under Global Fund mechanisms.

The secretariat hosted the meetings and spearheaded the advancing of CICC’s resolutions to the relevant authorities.

After a series of meetings and consultations with various government officials and departments our cause was tabled in the Country Coordinating Mechanism (CCM) and Uganda was offered opportunity for a Second recipient for Global Fund.

Empowering Local structures
Advocacy by religious leaders to mobilize communities for services is vital. Religious leaders are empowered to engage district officials to address the challenges that hinder children and specifically OVC to access education, mobilize and sensitize communities to access services. Religious leaders are however faced with the challenge of cultural and social barriers in their advocacy work.

Representation at National Level
IRCU represents the FBO constituency on the Partnership Committee of the Uganda AIDS Commission. At this level, IRCU emphasizes the need for prevention strategies against HIV/AIDS based on abstinence for the unmarried and faithfulness for the married.



Promoting Ethical Accountability
IRCU and Action Against Corruption Coalition for Uganda (ACCU) established a partnership in which Religious Leaders are engaged in the fight against corruption. The partnership and Advocacy portfolio participated in the training of Religious leaders of the Rwenzori region on faith based advocacy against corruption.

African Women Of Faith Network Uganda (AWOFNETU) is community of women from different faith groups in Uganda who came together to address issues on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in relation to HIV & AIDS.

AWOFNETU in partnership with IRCU, strives to make the role of Women of Faith visible in communities to promote peace and development. Members include women from the Roman Catholic Church, Orthodox Church, Seventh Day Adventist Church, Anglican Church of Uganda, Muslim faith and Jewish community.

Our vision: is quality life, holistic development and peace among women of faith in Uganda.

Our mission: is in spite of their differences, women of faith work together to promote peace, development of a Woman of Faith and the entire human family.
