Success Factors
IRCU success is attributed to a number of factors:
Unique philosophy:
We see our work as a response to the divine calling to care for the needy and vulnerable in the spirit of love, witness, stewardship and faith. This spiritual motivation compels it to reach out to all peoples, including those living in the remotest parts of the country.
Leadership:
We boasts of established leadership at all levels which enjoy a big following and is influential in shaping people’s attitudes, spiritual and moral wellbeing. IRCU continues to make deliberate efforts to galvanize support for its core programme areas around the vital institutions and leadership.
Structure:
We enjoys vast elaborate structures in its membership which run from national to the grassroots level. These structures are highly organized to facilitate rapid mobilization and scale up of programs .
Inter-faith Cooperation:
The spirit of unity and cooperation among the top leadership of the constituent bodies (IRB) of IRCU is an indispensable factor in propelling the organization to success. The Council of Presidents which is the highest policy-making organ of IRCU is drawn from the top leadership of the five main IRBs in Uganda, followed by an Executive Board which equally derives membership from the same bodies.
Human Resource:
We consistently endeavoured to recruit and maintain qualified and competent staff at its Secretariat. Capacity building programmes are also undertaken to address specific capacity needs among the existing staff. Further, IRCU enjoys the wealth of experiences brought to its work by staff from diverse religious and cultural backgrounds.
Partnership:
The good relationship that exists between IRCU Secretariat, IRBs and other organizations is also a key success factor. IRCU implements most of its programmes through the IRBs to reach the target groups. IRCU Secretariat role is to develop programs, mobilize resources, build capacity and provide technical oversight. This has had positive impact on the ownership of IRCU and its programmes by IRBs.
Political environment:
An enabling political environment in Uganda enhances the work of IRCU in many ways. Legally, the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda provides for freedom of worship and association and this has made it possible for IRCU to mobilize resources, people and faith-based institutions to address common concerns in the country.
Commitment to purpose:
IRCU is committed to the vision, mission and principles for which it was established and exists.
Consistency:
Our programs are always implemented with the national and international legal and policy frameworks, declarations and commitments in mind. These instruments are seen as complementary to the Holy Scriptures.
