Governance
IRCU is governed by the Council of Presidents (CoP) constituted by the supreme leaders of its five member religious institutions. These are His Grace Cyprian Lwanga, the Archbishop of Kampala diocese, His Grace Henry Luke Orombi, the Archbishop of Church of Uganda, His Eminence Jonah , the metropolitan of Uganda Orthodox Church, His Eminence Shaban Mubajje, the Mufti of the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council and Pastor John Kakembo President of the Seventh Day Adventist Uganda Union.
The members of the CoP serve a continuous term until their legal status changes within their respective religious communities. They among other things provide leadership, guidance in periods requiring inter- faith co-operation, enact governance policies and manuals to govern all transactions and operations of or within the Secretariat. The Council is presides over by a Chair for two years on rotational basis. He also acts as the official public voice for the Council.

Consultative Assembly
The Consultative Assembly is provided for under Article 5(2) of the IRCU Constitution as an organ that facilitates the sharing of knowledge, inter-faith planning and promotion of dialogue on key challenges among the faith based fraternity in Uganda. The CA discusses issues of shared concern on the local and international scene from the inter-faith perspective. The Consultative Assembly is convened once in two (2) years by the Council of Presidents.
The IRCU Consultative Assembly brings together all the Bishops of the Uganda Catholic Church, the District Khadis of Uganda Muslim Supreme Council, Bishops of the Province of the Church of Uganda (Anglican), all the Deans of the Uganda Orthodox Church, the Fields and Presidents of the Uganda Union of Seventh-day Adventist Church and Representatives of the Pentecostal Churches. It is through the country wide structures of these member organizations and other independent faith-based-organizations that IRCU programs are implemented. top
The Executive Board
Delegated by the Council o Presidents to hold overall responsibility, authority and accountability: determination and successful implementation of IRCU programmatic priorities and fiscal soundness. It is constituted by two representatives from each member Institutionalized Religious Body including their Chief Executive Officers/ Secretary Generals in Ex-Officio capacity. The representatives hold office for not more than two terms, of three years. top
IRCU Secretariat
Established by the Council o Presidents and supported by the Executive Board comprised of representatives from each of the constituting faiths, the Secretariat coordinates all the activities to fulfill the objectives of its establishment. It is headed by the Secretary General, recruited on rotational basis by the Executive Board and competent technical staff. The Secretariat supports programme, finance, capacity building and monitoring and evaluation components for all interventions implemented by the faith based organizations. top
