Bishop Antony Zziwa elected as chairman of Inter-Religious Council of Uganda
The Inter-Religious Council of Uganda (IRCU) Council of President at its meeting of 23rd June 2026 has unanimously elected Rt. Rev. Dr. Joseph Antony Zziwa, the Bishop of Kiyinda-Mityana Catholic Diocese and Chairman of the Uganda Episcopal Conference, as its new Chairperson for the period 2026 -2029.
Bishop Zziwa takes over from The Most Rev. Dr. Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu, Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, following the conclusion of Archbishop Kaziimba’s tenure as Chair of the IRCU Council of Presidents.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Archbishop Kaziimba for his dedicated leadership and guidance during his term.
We also warmly congratulate Bishop Zziwa and wish him every success as he takes on this important role, leading IRCU in fulfilling its vision of a Godly, peaceful, united, and prosperous Uganda.
