Faith Leaders Across Africa Convene in Uganda to Review SDG Progress

On April 8th, faith leaders from across Africa gathered at Speke Resort Munyonyo, Kampala to deliberate on the progress toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The continental meeting, organized by the Inter-Religious Council of Uganda working faith communities and institutions, was held as part of the eleventh session of the Africa Regional Forum on Sustainable Development (AFRSD11).

Representing the President of Uganda, the Prime Minister urged religious leaders to mobilize their followers in support of the national development agenda and initiatives aimed at improving household incomes. He stressed the importance of harnessing the influential role of faith-based communities to drive socio-economic progress across the nation.

The gathering provided a platform for fruitful discussions on challenges and achievements in SDG implementation, and set the stage for renewed commitments towards sustainable development. Organizers expressed hope that the collective efforts of faith leaders would further reinforce progress towards a more inclusive and resilient future for Uganda and the wider African continent.
