IRCU with its partners to organize the 2025 Presidential, Mayoral Debates

The Inter-Religious Council of Uganda (IRCU), together with the Elders’ Forum Uganda (TEFU), the National Consultative Forum (NCF), and key partners, is proud to announce that it will organize the 2025 presidential and city mayoral candidates’ debate—an electrifying platform to shape Uganda’s political future.

With preparations in high gear, the debates aim to drive issue-based campaigns, foster peace and tolerance, and institutionalize civic dialogue. The debates will empower Ugandan voters with the opportunity to hear directly from the candidates and gain a clearer understanding of who presents the most compelling vision to lead Uganda into its next chapter 2026 -20231.

The debate will be held in two phases:

  • Phase 1: November 2025
  • Phase 2: December 2025

Building on the success of the historic 2016 presidential debate—the first of its kind in Uganda—the 2025 edition promises to be even more dynamic, featuring all the 8 presidential candidates, along with mayoral contenders from 10 cities, in live coverage across all major media platforms nationwide.

Stay tuned as we shape a more informed and engaged electorate.
